Architectural Inspiration
Goethe called architecture "frozen music." The creativity, timelessness, and combination of lyrics and melody found in a great piece of music are similar to the harmony of form and function found in well-executed residential architecture.
Owners remain free to choose any architect they wish — the firms below are offered only as vetted, desirable options. Three eminent architectural firms have been selected to provide diversity and a range of choices to owners. Each has an impressive portfolio featuring both traditional and contemporary residences, a commitment to sustainability and preservation practices, a history of designing homes compatible with this special environment, and an impeccable professional reputation.
Each firm has visited the Preserve and demonstrated its commitment through the submissions that follow. The spectacular homesites at Graystones Preserve offer a blank canvas for an exciting collaboration between these talented architects and discerning owners — professionals who not only know how to achieve harmony between nature and structure, but understand the difference between designing a home rather than a house.

Lang Architecture
We are architects who connect place, purpose and experience to elevate daily life. We create generational sustainability through connected design, combining disciplines and translating insights into practical plans that enrich how people live and how businesses work.
By studying each property and its natural surroundings, we root our work in the environment while translating local conditions into modern, compelling forms — designing with nature, sourcing local materials, and leveraging new technology for smarter, more efficient buildings.

Archer & Buchanan Architecture
Archer & Buchanan Architecture knows that when clients build, they are making an enormous commitment of time and money to what is expected to be a valuable and productive investment. We believe our prime responsibility is to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.
This task includes adherence to budget, respect for time and schedule, and the prudent use of land, labor, natural resources and materials. Our design should enhance its environment and grow in value over time.

Berglund Architects
A Hans Berglund designed LEED certified smart home — a harmonious mix of old world and modern influences. Built with views in mind, floor-to-ceiling steel windows offer panoramic views of the preserve and mountains.
Custom details include a William Ohs kitchen, a dramatic open steel and wood staircase, seven limestone fireplaces, and over 2,000 square feet of heated patios.
